According to a poll done by CNN/Opinion Research Corporation, sixty percent of those polled say they do not support any more government bailout spending. After the $750 billion (which became something closer to $850 billion) and then another $16 billion on an auto bailout, Americans are fed up with the massive transfer of money into the hands of its wealthiest CEOs. However, 38% of those interviewed stated support for more assistance to the financial institutions.
The poll of 1,245 Americans was conducted before the Senate voted on Thursday to release the remaining $350 million in the bailout program.

More than 80% of those questioned didn’t believe that the first $350 billion of bailout money, paid for by taxpayers, didn’t work. A staggeringly low 14% of those polled believe the money was successfully used.
Interestingly, only 25% percent of the poll stated that they would side with the Democratic Congressional leaders over Obama in the event of a disagreement, while a majority of 62% claimed they would back the President-elect. Obama’s popularity could be a deterrent in any Senate vote against his own policy.

50% of those polled believe that the GOP is more to blame for the country’s current economic woes. Conversely, less than 25% of respondents say that Democrats are behind the recession.
CNN Polling Director Keating Holland thinks that “Democrats may also have recognized that the public still blames the GOP for the bad economy. That suggests that the public may give the Democrats some leeway, at least for now.”
The survey’s sampling error was between plus or minus 3 and 4.5 percentage points. Be cautious about your employment future and anticipate how you might be affected. Stay updated at Employment Crossroads.
