Continuing with is restructuring plan, packaging giant MeadWestvaco will begin shutting down manufacturing operations in Washington Court House, Ohio in April, a move that will cost 316 jobs.

The Richmond, Virginia-based company said its Washington Court House facility and a nearby warehouse will begin scaling down operations April 6th. The closing should be complete by mid-November.

The company said it intends to maintain a small manufacturing presence in the city, but details on what could remain in the southwest Central Ohio town weren’t immediately available.

The closing is part of a $125 million cost-cutting plan MeadWestvaco launched last month in response to the recession. The company said it plans to shut down or restructure up to 14 plants and cut about 2,000 jobs over the course of the year.

MeadWestvaco employs about 22,000 worldwide, and in the first nine months of 2008 earned $106 million on $5.04 billion in revenue.
