Indiana’s Department of Workforce Development reports about 12,000 jobs across the state need to be filled.
Unemployed workers are applying for the over 5,000 Indianapolis-area jobs the state says need to be filled.
Industries hiring include banks and mortgage companies, pharmaceutical manufacturing and food distribution companies.
But new, higher paying manufacturing jobs are virtually non-existent.
