Wal-Mart to Create 3,000 North Carolina jobs

Wal-Mart will add 3,000 new jobs at its 155 locations in North Carolina.

The company employs more than 51,000 people across the state, making it the largest employer in North Carolina.

Founded in 1962, Wal-Mart Stores is a chain of large, discount department stores. It is the world’s largest public corporation by revenue, according to the 2008 Fortune Global 500.

Wal-Mart has been criticized by some groups for its extensive foreign product sourcing, low rates of employee health insurance enrollment, resistance to union representation, alleged sexism, and management efforts to pressure employees to vote for specific parties during national elections.
