Loyola Health System to Lay Off 440 Nurses, Managers, Staff

Loyola MedicineThe Loyola University Health System will cut 440 jobs, or 8% of its work force.

Workers will be laid off from the Loyola University Medical Center and the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. The cuts will include 31 nurses.

In December, Loyola eliminated 200 jobs.

Chicago’s Loyola University Health System consists of the main medical center campus, the 36-acre Gottlieb Memorial Hospital campus, and 22 primary and specialty care facilities in Cook, Will and DuPage counties. The heart of the medical center campus, Loyola University Hospital, is a 570-licensed bed facility. It houses a Level 1 trauma center, a burn center, and the Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center.
