Palm Beach County, FloridaThe Palm Beach County, Florida Clerk & Comptroller’s Office is eliminating 66 employees in June, the result of state-mandated budget cuts.

Thirty-two employees accepted voluntary buyouts, while 34 have been informed they will be laid off by June 12th.

The office has cut over 100 positions in the last 12 months. The clerk’s office is also raising fees.

Palm Beach County has the largest land area in the state of Florida. As of 2007, the county had an estimated population of 1.3 million, making it the third most populous in the state of Florida and the 29th most populous in the US. Over 40% of the county’s population lives in unincorporated areas.
