Delaney Returns to Danvers, Massachusetts as HR Director

massachusettsflag_160x120Human resources veteran Stephen Delaney, 57, will return to Danvers, Massachusetts, to serve as human resources director for the town’s 400 municipal employees.

Delaney began his career as an intern under former Danvers Town Manager Robert Curtis in the 1970s. He later worked as administrative assistant to the public works director, then assistant town manager with oversight of budget and human resources until 1981. From 1985-88, he returned to Danvers as the DPW operations director.

Now he will fill the HR director vacancy left by Larry Wood, who retired after 27 years.

Delaney will manage employee health insurance, workers’ compensation, employee assistance and training programs, and civil service.

He will leave his current post as town administrator of Georgetown. He also teaches urban management, finance and transportation planning part time at Boston University.
