Volunteer Fabricators Going Out of Business; 145 Laid Off

Volunteer FabricatorsTennessee’s Volunteer Fabricators, a manufacturer of hotel furniture, will go out of business at the end of July, laying off the 145 workers at its two plants.

One hundred and fifteen employees in Sneedville, and 30 in Bean Station, will lose their jobs.

The company laid off 40 workers beginning in January. The company also tried reducing hours, and unpaid furloughs, to save money.

Founded in 1975, Bean Station, Tennessee-based Volunteer Fabricators is a division of The HTHackney Company.
