Hamilton County, Ohio Saves 15 Sheriffs’ Jobs

hamiltoncountyohio_160x120Ohio’s Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department will be able to keep 15 deputies, due to $3.5 million in federal stimulus funds.

The money is from the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Program, which is part of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act.

The county also seeks funds to ease jail overcrowding, by expanding its electronic monitoring program and improving jail intake procedures.

Hamilton County is located in the southwest corner of the state of Ohio. The county seat is Cincinnati, and as of 2000, the population was 845,303.
