newflyer_160x120Automotive manufacturer New Flyer Industries will cut 13% of its workforce in the US and Canada, and shut down some plants.

The bus maker will cut its unionized workforce by 270 positions, and its salaried workforce by 50 positions. The firm says an order for 140 diesel-electric hybrid articulated buses was delayed indefinitely by the customer.

New Flyer will close three plants in Manitoba and Minnesota for two weeks at the end of the year.

Founded in 1930, New Flyer Industries is a bus manufacturer headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It also has factories in Crookston and St. Cloud, Minnesota.
