Autoparts Maker Metavation Closes Plant; 122 Jobs Lost

Metavation, a producer of parts for the automotive industry, has announced that 122 workers will lose their jobs due to the closure of a plant in Grand Traverse County, Michigan. Employees were notified on Friday about the closure.

Metavation will be consolidating their facilities. Most of the lines will be transplanted to a plant in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, while a third of the lines will be placed in Mexico.

The layoffs will begin taking place on December 4^th and will be finalized once the plant completes current orders.

According to officials, automakers have slowed production, leaving a surplus at the supply level. Metavation supplies parts to American Axle, General Motors, Chrysler and Ford.
