metro_logo_25Metro will go forward with plans to cut 150 jobs as they attempt to compensate for a budget gap. Sixty employees will receive layoff notices in the coming weeks, while 90 vacant positions will be cut.

Administrative workers will be the primary target of the most recent round layoffs, according to Metro Spokesman Steven Taubenkibel. The specific jobs that will be cut have not yet been decided, but will be determined by the end of March.

Metro is also considering plans to cut service and increase fares by 10 cents.

Metro’s budget gap is due in part to an unexpected decline in ridership.
