homedepot_160x120Do it yourself giant Home Depot is closing three under-performing stores, affecting one hundred jobs, and cutting another nine hundred jobs as it consolidates HR, fiance, real estate and other corporate functions.

The three stores are a clearance outlet store in Georgia, a temporary hurricane-recovery outlet in Mississippi and a small format store in North Carolina. There are no plans to close any of the company’s full size stores. Although the company has slowed its pace of growth, thus needing fewer people in the real estate department, it continues to add stores.

Currently Home Depot employs around 300,000 people around the world with 2,245 stores. 1,976 of those stores are in the US.
