The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is likely facing yet another round of fare hikes, reduced service, and layoffs.

Approximately 30 UTA employees will be laid off in the next few weeks according to Mike Allegra, general manager of the UTA Board of Trustees.

Allegra will remain general manager until a lay goes into effect on May 11th which allows the creation of new positions. John Inglish will be made CEO, and Bruce Jones is adding president of government resources to his title.

The media has painted these new titles as promotions, a move which caused some of the trustees to lash out on Wednesday as Allegra was discussing the agency’s financial turmoil.
