This Wednesday the Stanley Furniture Company announced their decision to shut down their Henry Country manufacturing plant. In a Southern Virginia region already suffering from high unemployment rates, 530 jobs are now at stake. According to WSLS News, the layoffs will occur between October and December of this year. At the end of the year the plant will be closed, in which case plans are to transform it into a warehousing and distribution center.  Stanley Furniture is looking overseas to outsource the production of furniture. Although over 500 jobs will be lost due to the closing of this manufacturing plant, according to The Washington Post, 250 new jobs from Faneuil will be available in Henry County and 160 positions from EcomNets in Danville.
