According to the Baltimore Sun, Middle River Aircraft Systems, which builds parts for both commercial and military aircraft, will add 200 plus jobs to its Eastern Baltimore County facility over the next two years.  The new jobs stem from an effort to develop more energy efficient braking systems for the Boeing 747-8 airplane, which is used throughout the world in commercial aircraft.  The component to be developed and produced at the factory is a General Electric product, the GEnx-2b engine thrust reverser.  Middle River is a subsidiary of GE.

Middle River, based in Baltimore County, currently employs over 800 employees.  GE employs more than 1,700 in Maryland at its 8 facilities.
