barack_obama1In a speech given today at a construction site in Ohio, President Barrack Obama marked the 10,000th construction project paid for with funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The controversial $862 billion stimulus bill has helped keep many Americans employed, though just how many remains a point of contention.

In his remarks, Obama cited signs of economic growth but acknowledged that many people haven’t seen much in the way of recovery: “There are still too many people here in Ohio and across the country who can’t find work. Many more can’t make ends meet . . . for these folks, the only jobs we create that matter are the ones that provide for their families. So while the recovery may start with projects like this, it can’t end here.”
