Horizon Air to Lay Off 120

Sea-Tac based Horizon Air announced Friday that it would be laying off 120 employees in Portland and Seattle. Horizon has reduced its fleet of planes significantly during the past two years and just reached an agreement to lease four of its regional jets to Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines. Horizon employs over 1,600 pilots, flight attendants and mechanics, most of whom live in the Portland area. Due to the reductions in its fleet, Horizon will be cutting service to three locations: Idaho Falls, Idaho and Prescott and Flagstaff, Arizona.

Horizon Air is a subsidiary of the Alaska Air Group, which also operates Alaska Airlines.
