IBM has plans to hire some 600 new workers in the Beaver State, says the Statesman Journal, with a concentration of those jobs in the Salem suburb, Beaverton.  Approximately 90 of those jobs will be located in the State’s capital.

The new jobs will be at Wilshire Credit Corporation, a recent acquisition of IBM, and will coincide with the introduction of the software giant’s new mortgage software.  In October 2009, IBM purchased Wilshire’s operating assets from Bank of America.  Wilshire, a mortgage servicing operation, manages, for the large part, “sub-prime loans.”

The state and city of Beaverton plan on contributing funds to be used to train new workers for the positions.  Training could begin as early as next month, reports the Oregonian, although officials are unsure when the actual new jobs will be on-line.
