The Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, Florida is expected to layoff hundreds of workers this week. The space shuttle program is nearing its retirement and 900 United Space Alliance workers are being let go.

A political symposium is being held today at the University of Central Florida to determine the future of the space giant.

President Barack Obama has plans to overhaul NASA, and Space Coast Representative Suzanne Kismas is among several speakers expected to discuss the nature of those intentions.
