CDM Services, based in Vancouver, will undergo a 50% workforce reduction that will begin on November 1st.

The nonprofit organization will cut its 200 employee staff in half, citing the Department of Health and Human Services’ initiative to reduce its costs, which will transfer 6,000 elderly and disabled people to an independent care-provider program.

CDM currently has 300 state-supported clients. Around half of those 300 will be affected by the November layoffs, according to Eric Erickson, executive director of CDM.

Erickson also said that there was a possibility that CDM would merge with outside nonprofits in order to maintain their in-home services.
