philips_logo About 50 new jobs are on the way in Salina, KS as Salina City Commissioners awarded Philips Lighting a grant up to $750,000 to encourage its expansion plan. The amount comes from the Salina Economic Development Incentives Council’s economic development grant fund. However, the commission pointed out that the total amount awarded to Philips will be contingent upon the number of new jobs created by the company. The grant will not exceed $750,000.

Philips Lighting officials said that the grant will be used to facilitate its expansion project called “Project Joy,” which is expected to create about 50 new production positions in the area. The company added that the project will cost them up to $5 million in capital equipment investments, plus around $2.35 million for payroll costs.

Company officials added that the new jobs will have wage level of about $22.60 per hour. The company will also provide benefits for the successful applicants.
