Cummins Filtration, a filtration, coolant and fuel additive specialist for commercial engine systems, is closing its production line in Lake Mills, Iowa, and expanding an existing facility in Mexico.  The 200 affected employees will be laid off as of April 8.  Approximately 150 employees will stay on in media and administrative positions.

Cummins has operated a plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, for 25 years.  When the expansion is complete, it will employ approximately 950 people.  The Mexican government is assisting by providing training scholarships for new employees that will cover transportation costs and a portion of the salaries for the first three months on the job.
