louisiana_160x120Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal praised Bradken‘s decision to expand it’s foundry in Amite, Louisiana, bringing in 171 direct jobs and an estimated 223 indirect jobs.  Bradken, an Australian company that supplies the railroad and mining industries with steel products, will invest $18.1 million into the 18 month long expansion project.  Once completed, in addition to the 400 new jobs, the foundry is expected to generate $5.3 million in new state revenues and $3.2 million in local revenue.

Louisiana made it easy for Bradken to expand by offering a 5 to 6 percent reduction on payroll taxes for new employees, a 5 to 6 percent refundable tax credit on capital investments, property tax abatements for materials used in new manufacturing and workforce training assistance.
