Although Boeing recently gave layoff notices to about 220 of its employees in Alabama, there is good news for people living in Oklahoma.  The company is going to relocate about 500 of its workers from Long Beach to Oklahoma City after a new, six-story building is completed in the second quarter of 2012.  Boeing’s new office will be right next to its current building, which is across from Tinker Air Force Base.

Another 150 new positions will be created in Oklahoma City.  Boeing is planning on hiring workers to repair and upgrade planes.  Some of the available positions the company is looking to fill are structural design workers and software specialists, along with many others.  The company is building a new floor in their current building to accommodate 200 of the new employees.

As of right now, Boeing has 945 employees in the state of Oklahoma.  745 of those are in Oklahoma City.  When the employees have moved over and new ones have been hired, that number will rise to a total of about 1,500 Boeing employees in the state.
