Virginia Call Center Will Close on July 22, Taking 631 Jobs with it

The company StarTek, which does outsourcing, customer care and technical and product support, is closing its call center in Henry County, Virginia due to losing business with an unnamed client. StarTek will close its facility on July 22, and 631 jobs will be lost. With losses in the manufacturing and tobacco industries, the Martinsville-Henry county area has lost 18,000 jobs since 1990. Gov. Bob McDonnell says the closure is “sad news.”
