College costs have increased by approximately 130% over the past 20 years, conversely, middle class incomes have largely stagnated. Financial aid has also not kept up with the increased costs of obtaining a college degree. Many families have opted to seek two year degrees, rather than traditional four year ones, to minimize their costs. This has the possible outcome of providing a workforce that is not as educated as employers would like. Of those who choose four year colleges, many will be repaying student loans for years to come to pay for their degrees.
