50,000 state employees in Lansing expected to be laid off

Nearly 50,000 State employees in Lansing are expected to be issued layoff notices on 1st September 2011. But it is supposed to be delayed due to discussion within the officials by Gov. Rick Snyder. The officials were asked to prepare contingency plans if there was no negotiation to the concession offered to them. If the layoffs are issued from 1st October then full year savings will be achieved. State Employee Unions try to bargain the State to find alternative ways for savings either by reduction of managers or reduction of contractual cost of private companies.
