One Overtime Mistake that You Shouldn’t Make

Be careful when monitoring your employees time worked each day, as some time that you might not consider “compensable time” might actually be considered as such.  Recently, at Farmers Insurance, the Department of Labor ruled that the 5 minutes it took for call center workers to turn on their computers and get everything loaded on their computers was part of their workday.  Because of this, Farmers was billed for back wages for these employees, to the tune of $15 dollars for all 3,459 of them.  Make sure that you learn a lesson from this and make sure that all of your employees’ workday is covered in your records each day.
