Post Views 0President Obama is looking to send $30 billion to states to deal with teacher layoffs. This has gone far beyond the downsizing of teachers and first responders programme, which was signed last August. The current proposal is expected to prevent up to 280,000 teacher layoffs. But it will be interesting to see the congress’ response to this, as it is competing against many other initiatives like extending payroll tax cuts and unemployment benefits. The states and school districts have $103 million budget gap and also have 290,000 jobless school personnel.
