UAW Reaches Agreement With GM and Chrysler

GM, Chrysler along with the United Auto Workers(UAW) are definitely thankful for the government bailout which ensured the companies and workers alike were not torn apart. Workers not striking for wages formed an integral part of that bail out. Though they are making profits in the post bail out era, GM & Chrysler would need to compete on costs with the Asian automakers like Toyota & Honda for continued success and profitability. The fallout is that the workers see the profits currently being made and hence are vying for additional benefits like health and profit sharing.
