Human Resources recently hired a new manager in Los Lunas. The new manager, Christine L. Nardi, is from Las Cruces. The village of Los Lunas will be paying Nardi approximately $66,000 a year for her work as an HR manager.

The village administrator, Peter Fernandez, has said, “Creating the position has been overdue. The position was developed last year, but we had just not filled it yet.” The village had been advised to hire an HR manager since 2007. The hiring has just taken place in 2011.

Christine L. Nardi seems to be the perfect candidate for the HR manager position. Nardi worked in the field of human resources for over fifteen years. Nardi has a bachelor’s degree which she earned from New Mexico State University. The bachelor’s degree that she has obtained is for business administration and finances. Nardi also has a master’s degree that she earned from Arizona State University.

As an HR manager for the village, Nardi will deal with employment, laws, and hiring. Nardi will also have to look over work quality and actions. Nardi is excited about her new position and has said, “I will be setting up the department, which is really a great opportunity. I’ve run a department before. I’ve been all the way up to Ethics Professional level.”

In the past, Nardi has worked to supervise many staff members. She has dealt with work benefits and compensation, training, payroll, and other types of information pertaining to human resources. Nardi says, “It used to be, especially in public entities like this, it used to be personnel operations, and really what it was about was getting people paid and make sure they had insurance benefits.”

Nardi puts employers and their needs at the top of her list. When asked about what her responsibility will be, she has said, “To make sure our employees are safe, and that we meet OSHA requirements, because we do have positions that are safety sensitive.” She also makes her beliefs clear when she says, “We have fire and police, sanitation, solid waste and waste water treatment employees. We have to make sure that they have training available and the proper equipment available.”

While working in Arizona, Nardi helped the state save $14,000 while working on a project for health care in the area. The village is expecting her to do a fantastic job as the new HR manager.

Nardi recently got married to a man named Ricardo Ortega. Ortega, who was once an attorney, had hoped to move back to New Mexico and is happy that Nardi was able to get a position in the area. They now plan to live back in the New Mexico area, which is also where most of their children are located.
