Unemployment rates are still over nine percent and the job situation doesn’t show any signs of getting better anytime soon. And sadly, unemployment has become the normal way to live for many people, and some are getting worried and don’t know what they’re going to do about it. They have no way to pay their mortgage, car payments, and other expenses. For these people who have hit the bottom, they need to take their setback and make it into a comeback. Then take that comeback and make it into greenbacks. Here are some ways to make that happen:

Stop Commiserating:

The first step is to merely stop commiserating. It is amazing just how much gloom and doom is out there due to our current economy and unemployment situation. People who just sit around and commiserate are the very same people who would rather complain about their problems than do anything to fix them. Make up your mind on whether or not you are willing to do something about your unemployment. You have this choice, it’s just as easy to go lay on the couch while watching reruns on TV, but you’re not getting paid for that, and you can’t pay for your mortgages that way.

Don’t Let Your Pride Poison Your Prosperity:

Stop putting on that facade of success and get real. Any work that is moral and legal is an honorable thing to be doing. There are so many companies out there that are hiring right now, so take a look at the classifieds; its full of help-wanted ads. There is nothing wrong with taking a position that pays less that what you are used to being paid. It’s more than you’re making now. Even if you have to work fast-food, or bagging groceries at the supermarket, it’s ok, because the job is only temporary to help you out with the bills until you find yourself a better job. Plus, there is always a chance that you can learn a new skill or make some new friends.

Upgrade your network:

Who you are is often dictated by the people who are in your network. Many times it is your network that determines your net-worth and what kind of job situation that you have. Build a new network of people who are big thinkers, because who you hang out with is who you will eventually become. Make sure that the people you are hanging out with aren’t changing you for the worse. Share your ideas with them, educate them. That way you are expanding your network as well as sharing what you love with others. In life, there are always going to be setbacks, as well as downturns and challenges. Yet, it is very important to remember that this is not personal, and it is not permanent. Everyone feels the pinch of the economic downturn at some point; it is an equal opportunity plan. But, in every single burden, there is a blessing, and if you are wise, it is out of these challenges times that you can grow.
