The number of unemployed people in Oregon is at a whopping 9.5 percent and this percentage seems to be staying the same. In fact, in the month of September, the number of unemployed people in Oregon was at 9.6 percent. This proves that although two mans have gone by, progress is not really being made and tons of people in Oregon still have no source of employment.

The Employment Department released over 3,000 jobs within the months of September through November but the jobless rate has barely decreased. In the United States, the number of jobless people decreased from 9.1 percent to 9.0 percent within one month.

Oregon has hired many people for seasonal jobs. The problem is, these jobs are seasonal which means that when the season is over, most of these people will no longer be employed. Some job gains in the past month included government jobs and trade types of jobs but with gains, there were losses as well. Job loss occurred in the fields of manufacturing and construction in Oregon.

The Government added well over 19,000 government jobs which would allow jobless individuals to find employment with the government. While government jobs increased, the need for employees in the field of education dropped by an entire 3.0 percent.

Within just two short years, the field of trade has grown and continues to expand. This industry seems to have major strength and has gained a total of 1,200 different jobs. Trade in retail was doing well, hiring over 2,400 people for the holiday season. The number of people employed in trade retail has increased dramatically compared to October of 2010.

Unfortunately, manufacturing jobs did make cutbacks and over 3,000 jobs were lost. This large amount of jobs lost is shocking because the usual number is close to 1,000 around the month of October. The manufacturing industry seems to flip flop back and forth.

Construction also took a turn for the worst because over 1,000 jobs were cut. This is a higher rate because the normal number of jobs cut around this time of year in the construction field is about 400. This is actually double and practically triple the number of jobs that are usually lost.

Oregon has had an unemployment rate of less than 10 percent for quite a few months. While being under 10 percent is better news, being stuck at the same rate for quite a few months is definitely not so good and is actually quite troubling especially when jobs are being produced in and around the area. The percentage continues to drop very slowly which may mean progress is on the road ahead but the future economy and number of unemployed people in Oregon is unclear. The unemployment rate has dipped somewhat in other states across the country but not enough to show a trend beginning or to relieve some stress of the unemployed.
