Last month, Bruce Jobe retired as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Montgomery County Schools. After Jobe retired, Schools Director Mike Harris named former HR Director Jeanine Chester as the new Chief and then promoted Assistant HR Director Cydney Miller to take over the position vacated by Chester.

Because of the reconfiguration done by Harris, the group now has a chance to hire someone who will solely be dedicated to hiring quality teachers and school administrators for the schools in the county.

The principal of Clarksville High School, Phyllis Casebolt, will start this month as the Director of Educator Quality. Casebolt was the principal at Clarksville High School for the previous three years.

“I am honored and humbled to be selected as the Director of Educator Quality. Serving the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System as an advocate for recruiting, selecting and retaining quality teachers, is truly a calling,” Mrs. Casebolt said. “This opportunity will empower me to positively impact the students of our district. Through my experiences as a teacher and administrator, I have witnessed the positive impact a quality teacher makes in a child’s life.”

Casebolt’s career with the CMCSS began back in 1987 when she worked as an elementary school teacher. She then became the very first principal in the history of the West Creek Middle School. Casebolt has also served as the assistant principal for Rossview High School. The elementary teaching experience within CMCSS included stints at Moore and Ringgold while also teaching at Richview Middle School. Casebolt has also taught in Knoxville, Tennessee at Thackston Elementary School.

Casebolt earned an M.A. in education, administration and supervision from Austin Peay State University. She earned a B.S. in education at Minot State University in North Dakota.

As part of the restructuring, Jean Luna has been named the new principal for Clarksville High School. Luna was serving as the school’s assistant principal at the time of her appointment.

“To be appointed principal of Clarksville High School is a great honor. The history and traditions connected with CHS make it a very special place within the community. I’m excited to work collectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to continue the excellence associated with being a Wildcat,” Mrs. Luna said.

Luna previously served as an assistant principal at Kenwood High School. She has taught in Washington, North Carolina, and Iowa before she began her career at CMCSS at Sango Elementary.

Luna acquired her master’s degree in education administration from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and her B.A. in elementary education from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.

“While it has been a blessing to serve as the principal of Clarksville High School, I feel confident Jean Luna and the administrative team will strive for excellence. I will treasure the countless memories of my time at CHS,” Casebolt said.
