Industrial employment for Washington State has increased by 1% within the span of a year. The information came from the Washington Manufacturers Directory, the 2012 edition, along with another industrial directory that is published each year by Manufacturers’ News Inc. The reports show that Washington gained nearly 3,000 jobs in the industrial sector between the months of February in 2011 through February of 2012.

The President of Manufacturers News, Tom Dubin, says that the recovery is actually moving along for the state of Washington and in the entire country. Dubin says that the demand for certain things, particularly aerospace components and exports have added to the increase of manufacturing jobs for the state. A new film production facility, Achilles USA, was recently opened in the Everett area of Washington and several expansions have also taken place, adding to employment numbers.

For the state, transportation and equipment manufacturing seem to be the largest part of the industrial sector, as this sector provides nearly 50,000 jobs, which was a major increase within the span of a year. There was also a major increase of the manufacturing of food products. The northwest area seems to account for the vast majority of industrial employment, with nearly 200,000 jobs, which was also an increase from 2011.

Seattle is still the top city for Washington, as its manufacturing jobs have increased by 4.8% in just one year. The Redmond area has accounted for nearly 40,000 industrial jobs, with an increase of 1%. On the other hand, there were some declines for manufacturing employment in different areas, which includes Everett, with nearly 30,000 industrial employees, Kent, with a little over 17,000 and Spokane, with a little over 12,000.

The Manufacturers’ News Inc. is actually the oldest and biggest publisher of manufacturer’s directories in the entire United States. The company has worked hard to provide these publications, for nearly 100 years, and to also work on identifying and researching the different establishments, all of which relate to the manufacturing sector. The company currently employs 85 different staff members, who work together to figure out as much information as they possibly can on all of the different manufacturing establishments in America and there are plenty.

The employees are constantly updating information to ensure that their publication provides only the most accurate results for each state in the entire country. The staff members contact different manufacturers throughout the span of a year as a way of updating their profile information and the number of employees they currently have. The company is based in Evanston, Illinois.
