New Superintendent for City School Board

The school board in the Lancaster area has recently made an announcement about its new superintendent. The former superintendent for the school board was Rob Walker but he will now be replaced by Steve Wigton, who was serving as the human resources director before receiving the news that he would take the place of the superintendent. Walker has chosen to leave the Lancaster school district so that he could fulfill responsibilities for the Pickerington School System, where he will be serving as the superintendent.

Wigton, who will now be the superintendent, believes that the community is fantastic and that the people within the school system are all great. Wigton is 53 years old and believes that in order to prosper, it is important to keep the people in mind. Wigton will stay within his human resource director position until the beginning of August, which is when he will be appointed to his new position as the superintendent.

Wigton is definitely not new to the school system, having served as a principal for the high school for three years, from 2006 up until 2009. Along with being a high school principal, he had also held several other positions, all of which have helped him gain the experience he needed that would make him perfect for this position. The district has plans to build several new elementary schools within the next few years. The President of the Board, Amy Eyman, believes that the many things that Wigton has already been able to do for the district, which included a pass for a building levy and an addition of ninth grade within the high school, are top reasons behind the selection. She says that he has the kind of experience that the district needs, especially during a period in time when they are building several new schools. She says it is important to have a strong team together and believes Wigton is a great addition to the team.

There were over a dozen people who applied for the position of superintendent. After extensive interviews, eliminations were made and eventually, Wigton was chosen for the position. Wigton says that when he takes on the position, he will work on the two goals he has already set, which include maximizing education for the students and ensure that the new school buildings that are built are built to the best of their ability. Wigton wants the best schools to be built because he believes the community deserves it. He believes that with the experience he has, he will be able to make sure that both of his goals are achieved, along with any other goals he may set. Overall, he wants to help the district to make some serious progress.
