During 2011, the state of Wisconsin managed to gain a total of a little less than 20,000 jobs for the entire year. The information was released by the federal government, which shows that while Wisconsin has been able to add jobs, the labor market in the state is still suffering and is behind at least 40 of the other states when it comes to the number of jobs made available throughout the year of 2011. While job creation is taking place, the state is suffering more than other states and is suffering more than the entire United States as a whole.

Within the span of December 2010 until December 2011, there were an approximate total of 19,551 jobs made available in Wisconsin, all of which were in either the public or private sector. Even with this amount of jobs being created, the state of Wisconsin is not doing as well as the other states when it comes to job growth and is now behind several other states, including Ohio, Michigan, Iowa and Minnesota. The United States as a whole managed to gain a total of about 1.8 million jobs, scattered around the different states, which is information that was released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

When it came down to jobs made available in the private sector, Wisconsin did show some growth and potential but still managed to rank lower than at least 37 of the other states that managed to gain even more jobs than Wisconsin did in the private sector. While there was some positive, the jobs being added was not enough to compare to many of the other states that seemed to do better with job growth than the state of Wisconsin. One of the sectors that seemed to help with job creation for the state of Wisconsin was the manufacturing sector, which helped to add a total of over 11,000 jobs throughout the year. This was an increase of about 2.6 percent from the previous year and is a sector that continues to help Wisconsin with the recovery of its economy.

A statement was released earlier on in the week, in which the governor’s office stated that the data proves the state of Wisconsin did, in fact, add thousands of jobs during 2011. The governor for the state said that the job growth is something to be optimistic about, especially since the growth continues to occur. He continues to say that there is a whole lot of uncertainty going on but small businesses are starting to grow and things are starting to improve. While there were improvement and the data clearly shows it, there were also jobs that were lost over the year as well.
