The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance is not a name that many of you may be familiar with. For those of you who are not familiar with the organization here is a look at how they have chosen to describe themselves, “Lubbock Economic Development Alliance’s mission is to promote economic growth by creating high-quality jobs, attracting new capital investment, retaining and expanding existing business, and improving Lubbock’s quality of life. The exclusive purpose of LEDA, as outlined in its articles of incorporation, is to promote the social welfare of the City, through the following…”

The organization announced that they are going to be doing something very welcome when all is said and done, they are gong to be creating new jobs. The new jobs, which were announced earlier today, are going to number about 187, and will happen thanks to the efforts of five local businesses that will be hiring on the workers. The companies that are going to be hiring on the new workers include: Supply Chain Management, Inc., Research and Testing Laboratory, PathoGenius Laboratory, Raw Oil & Gas, Inc. and Covenant Health. The addition of these jobs should add about $7 million to the local economy each year in terms of salary.

This is the second time that the group has gotten to put out some good news this month. In an earlier announcement about the expansion of two other businesses, “The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA) announced the creation of more than 100 new jobs at a press conference Monday afternoon.  The additional jobs come as a result of the expansion of a local business and the arrival of a new manufacturing operation to Lubbock. Representatives with Rentzel Pump Manufacturing, L.P., revealed plans to expand their business operations to now include horizontal pump manufacturing production in Lubbock.  The expansion will enable Rentzel to streamline its process, which will result in meeting shorter lead times for customers.  The business will add 10 new jobs locally with combined total annual salaries equaling $420,000.
