About 50 companies and workforce organizations will be available to talk to job seekers Saturday at a career fair in downtown. It runs from 8 a.m. to noon at the San Diego Concourse at Golden Hall, 202 C. Street in downtown.San Diego County’s unemployment rate was 9.2 percent in July, up slightly from a three-year low of 8.7 percent in May. San Diego County employers reduced their labor force by 4,400 in July, but job growth over the past 12 months is the strongest it’s been since December 2000, according to state data released Friday. While the unemployment rate is up from a few months ago, consider this: In July 2011, the county’s unemployment rate was 10.5 percent, as employers cut 17,300 jobs. The 4,400 jobs lost last month are the least amount of jobs cut in a July since 1990. It also counts 10-month employees who only work during the school year.
