Most people have heard of NetZero before, especially since the company was known for being the first Internet Service Provider to have ever existed, increasing in popularity during the late 90’s. NetZero basically allowed users to get on the Internet for free but in order to do so; they would have to deal with a number of advertisements. What most people did not realize, however, is that the company is still around and is looking to rebrand. NetZero is currently focusing on providing a 4G mobile broadband for those with mobile devices. The company, which is headquartered in California, has already been selling data via Clearwire for the past several months, ever since march, while offering a free plan of 200 megabytes. The company also offers more MB at affordable rates, depending upon what Internet users want and need.

NetZero is currently looking to earn even more attention for their new 4G plans. But how exactly will the company, which is known for being outdated, grasp the attention of so many people? NetZero has decided to offer free services to individuals in exchange for those individuals allowing the company to have their Facebook wall used for advertisements. The company recently released a press release in which they stated, “Through this new program, any of Facebook’s® hundreds of millions of users can sign up at www.netzero.net/datashare and receive one free gigabyte of wireless data per month to give away to their friends via Facebook. All of the free wireless data that is given away can be claimed by the Facebook member’s friends through the NetZero 4G Data Share app and can be used by NetZero 4G Mobile Broadband subscribers with any data plan, including the 200MB/month free plan.”

Of course, data does no come for free. In order for individuals to take advantage of the free data that is being offered by NetZero, they will have to have a Facebook account. It is quite simple to sign up for an account, although most people already have one anyway. Once the individual has an account, they can sign up for the data plan with NetZero and will also need to purchase one of the broadband devices being offered by NetZero, which includes the 4G Hotspot. Those who are interested in the program will have to sign up via the Facebook promotion. If all of the requirements are met, NetZero will shell out the free data for those who want it and need it. Those who use NetZero may appreciate this kind of opportunity and the fact that they will never have to sign a contract with the company.
