Many employees at the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto are preparing for the worse, as there is a huge possibility that a number of jobs and positions are going to be cut. Along with cuts, a number of jobs will be relocated from the Modesto area over to the Sacramento area, which can cause a lot of frustration for employees. It has been several months since the parent organization for the hospital, Sutter Health of Sacramento, had started working on way to operate different aspects of the hospital, including the finance, billing, and human resources aspects. This move, however, is expected to lead to a number of job cuts as there will be a reduction of staff. Many employees are fearful for their job after finding out that staff cuts could end up taking place as early as November.

One employee at Memorial who did not want to be named has said, “There have already been patient-care-related jobs cut and there are more coming.” The individual also said, “That has been told to us several times by our managers and administration. … They are cutting throughout the entire hospital.” The employees know that the job cuts are taking place because the different hospital departments are dealing with much tighter budgets than before. Employees for the hospital believe that around anywhere from 150 to 200 jobs will be cut. A spokesperson for Sutter said that he was unable to provide information on whether or not job cuts would occur and how many job cuts would be made.

The only truth is that a number of employees at Memorial are going to feel the effects once Sutter Health opens up its administrative services center in the Roseville area at the beginning of next year. The center is designed to basically be the central hub for the human resources, financing, and billing aspects of the hospital. Anything that includes non-patient services will typically be handled at this office. At this point in time, these services are currently being spread out to a number of different hospital locations around the Central Valley and the Bay Area.

Sutter made an announcement several days ago, stating that a group of around 300 employees will be moving to the facility in Roseville during the beginning of next year. Sutter also said that a number of other employees will eventually be transferred to the facility as well. The center is, however, looking to employ around a thousand individuals to act as administrative supportive staff over the next year and a half.
