Porn Stars and the Homeless – Are They the New Protected Classes?

Workplace discrimination has always been a priority for minority races, differing genders to the status quo, as well as disability status. More recently, it has been extended to sexual preferences. Now, however, there are more and more anti-workplace bullying restrictions. These are designed to make life more reasonable for those who don’t fit the norm of the workplace, and prevent them from losing their job due to employee discrimination. Nevertheless, these are always difficult things to enforce, since they require a burden of proof. Two new categories of people are now fighting for workplace rights. One such employment candidate, the homeless person, is quite self-explanatory. Many businesses discriminate against homeless people. If a homeless person can’t actually get a job, then they will be unlikely to actually get a home. The other category is former sex workers. This applies, mainly, to high profile sex workers such as porn stars. These are people who may have their face on the front page of a magazine, be plastered on yellow journalism, or show up on TV news. If a person in a high profile enterprise, such as real estate or the medical profession, notices, they might find themselves out a job. Most end up simply going back into the sex industry because it simply pays the bills extremely well.
