Governor of South Carolina

Nikki Haley, the Governor of South Carolina, is expected to make an announcement surrounding the addition of 6,000 jobs to Chester and York Counties, according to WCNC.

Haley has not discussed any of the specifics of the jobs, but some could come from two companies known as LPL Financial and Lash Group. They have offices in Charlotte, but could cross the state lines into York County and Ft. Mill.

In Chester County, there are an estimated 1,500 jobs being added to a half-billion dollar investment into an auto manufacturing facility. It has yet to be revealed as to who is building the facility.

The announcements about both counties and the new jobs should come on June 16 from Governor Haley.

The unemployment rate in Chester County sits above seven percent, but it was in the double digits only a couple of years ago.

On Monday, Governor Haley was in attendance for a grand opening of a brand new facility at Red Ventures in Ft. Mill. She discussed new jobs and what is coming throughout the Pennsylvania state.

“It was just a matter of the team pulling together and saying this is our time,” Haley said.

According to The Island Packet, York County economic development director Mark Farris said, “Assuming we are successful, this would be the largest single-day job announcement in York County.”

Chester County Supervisor Carlisle Roddey said, “The face of Chester will change with this announcement.”
