Science and Engineering Services LLC is headquartered in Columbia, Maryland. It is adding 450 new jobs to its Huntsville, Alabama location, according to WAAYTV.
The new jobs are part of a $70 million expansion to the Alabama manufacturing operations in Huntsville. There are already 750 employees in the town for the company.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at the Farnborough International Air Show following a meeting with Governor Robert Bentley, Commerce Secretary Greg Canfield, leaders of Huntsville and local economic development leaders.
The company provides repair, maintenance and overhaul services for helicopters, airplanes and unmanned aerial vehicles. It also offers these services for ground combat systems. The U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security are two of the company’s clients.
Governor Bentley said, “Alabama has positioned itself to be a leader in aerospace and aviation, and the SES expansion is further proof of that success.”
The mayor of Huntsville, Tommy Battle, said, “With this announcement, SES is demonstrating what we’ve been saying for quite some time now. In Huntsville, you can do your research, development, engineering and manufacturing all in the same location. This systems approach is why Huntsville continues to be on the radar for companies looking to innovate and create.”
SES Chief Executive OFficer E.J. Sinclair said, “We are very excited about the expansion of our SES facilities and projected employment growth for Huntsville, Madison County and North Alabama.”
Sinclair continued with, “SES will continue to provide great support to our current customers, but we will also be bringing in some new key programs supporting the Department of Defense, aircraft original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and foreign military customers.”
