The HR Job responsibilities have increased manifold with time. It’s now a very demanding job with expanding liabilities. Here are 10 ways which will help you put your first foot forward in an HR Job.

1) Know your clients. Keep updating yourself on your clients’ coz it’s very easy to impress them with your HR skills once they are sure that you know their business well. Their business which is their primary focus and without the knowledge of their business you can never win their trust.

2) Your HR reputation to others is more important than the image you have of yourself. You might be right and the others wrong but it barely makes a difference as it’s their opinion which counts much more.

3) You should keep yourself up to date with all the industry information. The information will help you reach the top. You should never however be over confident coz the very moment you gain pride someone else leaves you behind in the rat race.

4) Every HR professional needs a HR speciality. You need not master everything. All you need to succeed is to create a speciality in just 1 field. Be the best in that 1 field which you are sure of and success itself will come to you.

5) It’s very important for your superiors to know of your expertise or else you can never progress in your career. Your boss, your boss’ boss and someone who will be your boss in future, all need to know about your work. Without commitment at the top working hard is no good for your future.

6) Don’t be a pessimist. Stop complaining of the winds. Better be an optimist and expect the winds to change. And if you really want to be an HR leader, adjust the sales yourself. Expecting that situations will never or soon change is sheer wastage of time.

7) Your work should inspire other people and should take your company to new heights. Don’t keep running after career opportunities. Just do your job and HR job openings will chase you.

8) Never underestimate yourself. Your knowledge might be common sense to yourself but it can be an influencing thought for others. Your common sense might be some exclusive knowledge which will lead you all the way to the top.

9) Avoid seeking career advice from mentors who speak little of your accomplishments and who try to belittle your career ambition. Only a bad mentor would do so coz the good ones only make you believe that the world is not enough.

10) When you meet someone for the first time try trusting them rather than mistrusting them. It’ll take you to your ultimate goal of being the perfect HR professional.

These are just 10 small suggestions; you can add many more to this list yourself. Just be positive and trust in your work.
