Detroit Mayor’s Proposed Budget Would Cut 826 Jobs
Post Views 0Detroit Mayor Kenneth Cockrel Jr. has proposed a 2010 city budget that would eliminate 826 jobs, 509 of which are currently vacant.
He also proposes an early retirement program, for workers with more than 30 years of service, to reduce involuntary layoffs.
The $3.6 billion spending plan is for the fiscal year that begins July 1st, and does not include any federal stimulus funds.
