Tacoma Train Repair Firm to Shut Down; 111 Laid Off
Post Views 0Tacoma, Washington’s Coast Engine & Equipment is going out of business. One hundred and eleven people will lose their jobs.
The firm repaired and refurbished locomotives, rail cars and other vehicles. Those laid off are welders, electricians, mechanics and other blue-collar workers.
Coast Engine was founded in 1947 to repair marine diesel engines. In 1988 the firm became a subsidiary of The Washington Companies.
