Two Tennessee Companies Laying Off 102 Workers

Filings with the state of Tennessee reveal a total of 102 workers have, or will be laid off in the coming months by two companies with operations in the state.

Orchid Cellmark will close its forensics lab in Nashville and move the operations to another facility in Dallas. Twenty five workers will be affected by the closure, according to a notification filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The layoffs will commence June 1 and continue through August, the Nashville Business Journal reports. Orchid Cellmark is a DNA identification company based in Princeton, N.J.

Lakeshore Estates Inc. laid off 77 workers in March, according to a state filing. The company has operated an assisted living and nursing home facilities in Nashville since the 1950’s, Business Journal reports.
