Sainsbury’s set to start advertising Carlisle superstore jobs – NW Evening Mail

The Caldewgate store, currently under construction, is to open in the autumn but the supermarket chain has revealed that it was already in the process of appointing senior managers. They said the recruitment process for the 300 full and part time posts would begin in late June, bringing “an invaluable boost” to the city’s economy. Work on the £40 million store began in March and the steel frame of the supermarket is already visible behind the hoardings. Carlisle MP John Stevenson was at the ground-cutting ceremony which heralded the start of construction work and said he was pleased to see a project that would create so many jobs getting underway. “Hopefully, it will help revive this part of the city,” he said. His predecessor Eric Martlew, who lives in the area, said it had never ‘really recovered from the floods”.
